Auto Shipping Tips and Things to Know
If you are in the process of moving to a new location, then you may be wondering what the best method is of getting your car from one place to the other. Auto shipping is the solution that most people choose. Although you could certainly drive your vehicle from your old home to your new one, most people find that doing so is costly and inconvenient. You can save yourself a lot of time and hassle by using a service that delivers your car to your new home for you. If auto shipping sounds like a good idea then there are just a few things that you’ll want to know.

The first thing that you’ll want to be aware of is that auto shipping can be used to transport nearly any type of vehicle that you may have. You can use it to relocate your family car, the classic car that you’ve kept in storage as a restoration project, or the motorcycle that you only take out on the weekends. This is good to know because it points to the reason that many people use auto shipping when they relocate. Most families these days have multiple cars. Trying to drive all of those cars from one home to another (especially if you’re going across the country) adds a lot of cost, time and aggravation to your move. Using auto shipping for some or all of your vehicles can significantly reduce the difficulties of relocating.

Another good thing to know about auto shipping is that it’s a fairly easy process. You don’t have to plan far in advance to get your car moved. Most people call an auto shipping company approximately one week in advance of when they need the car to be picked up. However, it’s possible to get your car picked up sooner if need be so don’t panic if you’re nearing your moving date and haven’t yet scheduled your pickup. When you do schedule the pickup, you should specifically request a door-to-door pickup because this will be easiest on you. This means that the truck that’s transporting your vehicle will come directly to the location of your car, pick it up and then take it to the exact spot where you’ll be moving. The alternative is to meet the truck somewhere else but why add that burden to yourself when you don’t need to?

A common question that people ask about auto transport is whether they can pack their car full of their belongings to help ease the shipping process of moving. The answer varies depending upon your auto shipping company; however, you should typically not plan on doing this. Some items are prohibited from being transported in the car and they aren’t going to be covered under the auto shipping insurance so you’re creating more problems for yourself than you’re solving by trying to do this. Let the auto shipping company take care of your car and hire professional movers to deal with the rest of your stuff.

Speaking of insurance, you shouldn’t worry about any damage to your car because it’s insured through the process of auto shipping. Moreover, it’s really rare that there are even any problems with damage to the cars being transported. It’s probably more likely that you’d get in an accident yourself while traveling across the country than it is that your car will be damaged by an auto shipping company.

So really the main thing that you need to know about auto shipping is that it’s a smart and easy way to get your car moved so that you can reduce the stress of relocation. Your car’s odometer won’t rack up the miles either!
