I want you to imagine this scenario. Your kid has just
passed his/her driver's test and recieved their license. As a gift for passing,
you take them down to the local car dealer so they can finally have a car of
their own (and you don't have to go get the groceries anymore, nudge, nudge,
wink, wink). However, as you pick out a car to purchase and go to pay for it,
you remember that each car must have car insurance. Upon investigating, you
find out that insurance is just a little too expensive for your budget. You
take your heartbroken kid home, an unused and unneeded driver's license in
their pocket. Or... you can do your research and find out how to cut the cost
of insurance.
"But if I get cheap insurance, it won't cover as much, right?" Not
necessarily. When you read over your car insurance statements and contracts,
you'll find that there are lot of things that you pay extra for that are just
stupid. For example, you may find that a moose attacking your car is covered
and the insurance cost is a little bit higher because of it. Uh, even if you
happen to live in a state where the moose population is large, it is highly
unlikely that a moose will attack your car. They'll usually run away when they
hear you coming from a mile or two away. When you find stupid little things like
that, ones that have a very low chance of ever occuring, it's okay to cut them
out. All they are doing is running up your bill. If you are absolutley sure
that you don't need things like that, then don't be afraid to cut them out to
cut costs.
"Okay, but even if I do that, I still have to pay way too much for good
car insurance." Wrong again. Stop guessing things kids, and let me educate
you. Cutting costs in the little areas is only one slice of the pie. There are
many things you can do to save on car insurance. Like switching to Geico. Just
kidding, this article applies to all insurance companies. Let me stress
something. Insurance companies do not want you to have accidents. No, they
don't have hearts after all, they just don't want to pay you. This means that
many of them will offer you discounts if you go so long without having an
accident or even a little fender bender. These discounts may not be very much,
but every little bit counts.
"You need to tell us more! We don't know how to find these discounts!"
Sure you can. Everything I told you can be done by an exceptionally smart
monkey. If you need help, many insurance companies will compare their rates to
other insurance companies. I would suggest finding one with a cost in between
too much and too little money. Then use the techniques I have just taught you
to help minimize the costs of this insurance. Good luck, kids!
